The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov's two-day official visit to Qatar ended yesterday. During the visit, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and the Minister of the Interior and Prime Minister of Qatar Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
The members of the government of Tatarstan had a number of negotiations in Qatar. So, Albert Karimov, the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the republic, met with Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sade, the Ministry of Energy, who was elected the President of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporter Countries (OPEC) as from 1 January 2016. Engel Fattakhov discussed the perspectives of the cooperation with his Qatari colleague Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi.
There was a round-table talk on issues of the development of cooperation of Tatarstan and Qatar with the participation of the administration of Qatar Investment Authority, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar. They signed an agreement on cooperation between Chamber of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan and Qatar.
In Doha, the delegation of Tatarstan also visited Education City and the Museum of Islamic Art.
Education City (a project of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development) is a zone that includes educational establishments from colleges to research institutions and branch campuses of some world's universities. Education City, which is located on the outskirts of Doha, covers 14 square kilometres.
Built in 2008, the Museum of Islamic Art is situated on an artificial island at the edge of the city harbor and covers 45,000 square metres. A research institute and a library are also located in the museum.
