The 17th World Koresh Championship for men and women older than 18 years in free and classic styles kicked off at Ak Bars Wrestling Palace on 1 November. Vice Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council, President of the Tatarstan Belt Wrestling Federation Marat Akhmetov, President of the International Belt Wrestling Federation Rafik Valiyev, President of the International Swimming Federation Julio Maglione, Tatarstan Minister of Sport Vladimir Leonov participated in the opening ceremony of the competition.

The world championship will be held at Ak Bars Wrestling Palace on 1 and 2 November. Over 200 athletes from 400 countries are participating in the tournament. 15 wrestlers are defending the honour of the republic in team Russia.
