On 28 May, Kazan International Equestrian Complex hosted traditional horse races dedicated to the celebration of Sabantuy. 84 jockeys and horseman from districts of Tatarstan, Mari El, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Perm Kari, Udmurtia, Saratov Oblast and Kazakhstan participated in the heats. Three-year-old and older thoroughbreds and Arabian horses took part in the races.

Kazan Mayor's Prize was given to the winner of the sixth heat among three-year old and older thoroughbreds. Gladiator Maksimus was the winner in 2,000m (its jockey was Tagir Metshin) that belongs to Aktay Equestrian Club.
