On 13 February, Badminton Center of Kazan opened its doors. The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the president of the National Badminton Federation of Russia Sergey Shakhrai and the president of the Badminton World Federation Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen took part in the event. The capacity of the centre built on the territory of Tennis Academy of Kazan is 3184,76 square metres. The sports hall is 51,7х36m in size The width of the sports hall is 51,7 m and the length is 36 m, the height of the hall is 12 m. Badminton Center has 12 courts and a seating capacity of 300.

After the official opening of the new centre, Farid Valeyev's Cup began. On 16-21 February, Kazan will host European Men´s & Women´s Team Championships and EuropeanU15 Championships.
