XXVIII International Olympiad in Informatics among school students started in the Main International Centre of Volga Academy of Sport and Tourism.

The Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, the rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov and the President of the IOI Krasimir Manev took part in opening ceremony.

The Olympiad is held from 12 to 19 August. 314 participants from 81 countries are taking part in the competition. Russia is represented by two teams. They are students from Moscow, Moscow region, St.-Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan.
