TAIF Group has become the leader in the field of ecology in 2017 in the Republic of Tatarstan, taking the first place in the contest Ecoleader in the nomination ''Oil production and petrochemical industry''. Environmental programmes that promote clean air, soil and water are implemented every year at the enterprises of TAIF Group. This year, the implementation of environmental projects has successfully coincided with Year of Ecology in Russia and Year of Ecology and Public Spaces in the Republic of Tatarstan. 10,3 billion rubles for restoration of ecological situation in Tatarstan
The republican contest Ecoleader has been held for the 14th time. Coincidentally, the last three years in the Republic of Tatarstan have been closely associated with environmental problems. For example, the year 2015 was declared by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov as Year of Parks and Gardens, 2016 — Year of Water Protection Zones, and the year 2017 was declared by President of Russia Vladimir Putin as Year of Ecology. Also, this year in Tatarstan has been Year of Public Spaces.
Environmental issues are common for all. That is why both industrial giants and public organizations and initiative citizens can participate in the contest Ecoleader. According to minister of natural resources and ecology of the Russian Federation Sergey Donskoy, who congratulated the winners of the contest via video address, on Year of Ecology everyone could reflect on personal responsibility to the environment. He thanked ''the associates in the Republic of Tatarstan for their active position and joint work in the framework of Year of Ecology.''
First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin, welcoming the ''ecoleadership'', noted that in the republic as an industrial region there is a big load on the nature. ''It is good that the company, which, on the one hand, exploits nature, on the other hand, is ready to repair, protect and invest in it. It is no coincidence that 10,3 billion rubles have been invested this year by all major companies. I think we all see the improvements. This year, the Year of Ecology and Public Spaces, it has been planted 2 million trees, 10 thousand kilometers of the banks of the Volga river surveyed,'' Rustam Nigmatullin stated.
Kazanorgsintez updates the treatment sites in Year of Ecology
TAIF Group has taken the first place in the republican contest Ecoleader in the nomination ''Oil production and petrochemical industry''. The contribution of large enterprises in the construction of new sewage treatment plants, deep modernization of those already operated, was highly appreciated during the announcement of the results of the contest by minister of ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev. Let us remind that in October he attended the launching ceremony of the reconstructed sludge beds in the shop of neutralization and treatment of industrial wastewater (NiOPSV) at Kazanorgsintez PJSC. He highlighted the systematic approach of Kazanorgsintez (KOS) to the protection of the environment. ''The damage that has been prevented is significantly larger than the amount that is provided on the reconstruction of slurry and sludge beds,'' Farid Abdulganiev stated in October.
Already in December 2016, the management of Kazanorgsintez took the decision on signing the agreements on cooperation with the ministry of ecology and natural resources of the Russian Federation, the Federal office of Rosprirodnadzor, the government of the Republic of Tatarstan to conduct in 2017 in the Russian Federation the year of ecology. In the framework of Year of Ecology, the enterprise reconstructed sewage treatment plants, the shop for disposal of liquid waste. The environmental measures ensured safe waste disposal of up to 7,000 tonnes a year, sewage water treatment of up to 47 million cubic meters a day.
The environmental management system in Kazanorgsintez PJSC is aimed at improving the environmental situation and reducing waste generation. In 2017, the company has worked out the model of dual collection of solid municipal waste (SMW). Thus, it is planned to reduce the amount of waste received for disposal at the city landfill. The containers for secondary raw materials, namely cardboard, paper, plastic, PET bottles and aluminum cans, will save on garbage disposal by reducing its volume.
Andrey Smolko, deputy chief engineer, the head of ecology department at Kazanorgsintez, told that about 405 tonnes of solid municipal waste were removed from the territory of the enterprise and resort bases of KOS in 2016, with the prescribed limit of MSW at 415 tonnes. The total amount of fees for disposal, including transportation of MSW, in 2016 amounted to more than 1 million rubles.
Nizhnekamskneftekhim: 3 billion rubles in 3 years for environmental protection
All enterprises of TAIF Group every year start projects aimed at restoring and protecting the environment. Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC implements the fourth environmental programme, intended until 2020. For the first 3 years it has been allocated about 3 billion rubles for this purpose. Over this time the company has managed to reduce the consumption of fresh river water, to reduce the amount of non-utilized waste and reduce the discharge of waste water after the buffer ponds of Strelochny Log stream.
Special emphasis in the environmental programme was placed to the reconstruction of biological treatment facilities. In 2016, it was completed the first stage of the reconstruction, in the result of which the quality of treated effluent has improved by 14 indicators. The implementation of the second phase will begin next year and last until 2020. Over this period, it is to be reconstructed the node of primary treatment of industrial effluents and to be build a 12-kilometer chemically polluted manifold. The projected costs are 1,6 billion rubles.
Air emissions have been reduced by 54% due to environmental protection measures and the replacement of equipment with sealed one at the enterprise since 2001, despite he fact that the output of commercial products during this time has increased two times. The control over content of polluting substances in the ambient air is carried out constantly, from 6 October all monitoring data in electronic form is daily transferred to the ministry of ecology and natural resources in accordance with the agreement signed between Nizhnekamskneftekhim and the ministry.
Environmental agreement cost TAIF-NK 3,8 billion rubles
Within the framework of Year of Ecology in Russia, TAIF-NK PSC signed a quadripartite Agreement on implementation at the enterprise of environmental programme between the ministry of natural resources, Rosprirodnadzor, the government of Tatarstan. TAIF-NK PSC allocated more than 3,8 billion rubles for the implementation of the agreement.
Major part of the amount, it is 3,7 billion rubles, has been invested in the reconstruction of the shop of local treatment facilities, which were launched in June. The shop receives and terats all production and storm drains, which are formed on the existing facilities of TAIF-NK, located in the second industrial zone of Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC, and at the Heavy Residue Conversion Complex, which is being under construction, for reuse of treated water for technological purposes.
The funds were directed for the replacement of the burners of the furnace P-3 of the vacuum unit ELOU-AVT-7, which has helped to reduce the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere. Besides, in the framework of the implementation of the environmental programme at the gasoline plant it has been finished the modernization of the column intended for the distillation of methanol-recycle, thus ensuring the guaranteed quality of effluents within the established norms. Also, to reduce the amount of emissions, the naphtha loading rack has been mounted with a vapor recovery unit, the commissioning of which will be implemented after the launch of the Heavy Residue Conversion Complex.
Strategy and ecology
The environmental projects implemented by TAIF Group amaze by its scale and foresight. It also concerns the power plant for the needs of Nizhnekamskneftekhim, the construction beginning of which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. In addition to the energy problem, the energy source is designed to solve environmental one. In the process of production, Nizhnekamskneftekhim produces a great amount of products of associated petroleum gases processing, which are by-products of the basic technological processes. Before that, they were utilized in the torches or burned in furnaces at the productions of Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
Now waste will be disposed in the combustion chambers of gas turbines, wherein the process is carried out according to the environmental standards, meeting the stringent European and Russian requirements. Thus, the power plant will make a significant contribution in improving the environment of Nizhnekamsk. The agreement on construction of the new plant on a turnkey basis in Tatarstan in December was signed by TAIF PSC and the German concern Siemens in Munich.
