Ilshat Aminov: ‘We have no quality rating for the channel’

The Radio and Television Company Novyi Vek has presented a new format of news programs

Yesterday, TNV viewers could see a new format of news programs, developed by the management of the company for the news in Russian and Tatar languages. At the press conference at Tatmedia, the leadership of the TV and Radio Company TNV told what changes will be in the style and in the presentation of news of the main Tatarstan TV channel.

New approach

On 25 April, the reporters for the first time showed the TNV news in the new format in two languages. The channel presented new dynamic bumpers and spacings. The announcement of the program has been strengthened due to news announcements at the beginning (announcements used to be read by a presenter, now on-the-scene correspondents do it). Journalists have become more and more appear in the frame.

The new format was presented in the press center of Tatmedia by the Director General of the TV and Radio Company Novyi Vek Ilshat Aminov and his responsible for information broadcasting Deputy Madina Timerzyanova. Among the speakers also was the former TV presenter of KVN program Adymnar Saria Khabibullina. New faces of the channel have also had a speech — the presenters Albina Asylgarayeva and Aigul Badrutdinova. Also, it was presented the author of the new 'clothes' of TNV — the head of the computer design center Almaz Akberov.

It can be noted that academic style of TNV news has changed to a more aggressive format, like federal TV channels have. As a highlight, it can be called on-air reports. TNV has one of the strongest specific advantages — ability to broadcast live the journalists working on the scene. It seems that from now, the channel will begin to use this advantage to full effect.

New faces

Commenting on the product, Madina Timerzyanova noted that they have been working long and hard on its creation and presented the results with considerable excitement. As the reason for the changes, she called the upcoming 15th anniversary of TNV, which allows them to conduct an audit of what they have and to look into the future.

Madina Timerzyanova noted that they have been working long and hard on its creation and presented the results with considerable excitement

'TV trend is that everything should be very dynamic. You should look for your own style, to be unique, and at the same time, the 'wrap' and the design should allow presenting what you've cooked with the greatest benefit. Here for the first time we have managed to show live in two windows,' said Timerzyanova.

She also highlighted the profound changes in the studio. The Deputy Director General for information broadcasting spoke about the casting of the presenters, in the result of which they selected new faces of the channel — Albina Asylgaraeva and Aigul Badrutdinova. They have gone through rigorous selection during the open casting, where to one position on the largest regional TV channel there were almost two hundred people.

American sociologists refuse to take into account national peculiarities

During the press conference, they touched upon the rating of the channel. Ilshat Aminov said that the method of counting of 'TV viewing' in Tatarstan is questionable. The rating in Kazan is counted on the basis of data obtained from only 150 families. At the same time, the authors do not take into account the national component.

'We have no quality ratings for the channel. There are people-metres, they are installed only in Kazan. 150 people-meters – it is 150 families, determine the rating of Kazan, but Gallup [an American Institute of public opinion, is engaged in counting the ratings in the Russian Federation — editor's note] refuses to include a national principle. We don't know whether those 150 people-meters are only in Russian-speaking families, or in mixed families, they do not include the category of nationality in their research. In the Republic there is no any rating,' said Aminov, stressing that TNV believes that these data is non-representative.

Another pain point is the switch of the channel to the HD, it is to be completed by 2018, when the transition to digital television will have been fulfilled. However, today this process causes difficulties, in particular, OB (outside broadcasting) that TNV has, in fact, is already morally obsolete, since the sport switched to a new format and the most popular product – match broadcasting — is harder and harder to do. A new OB will cost an astronomical amount at 500 million rubles.

The viewers already have a chance to see the new format of news programs

Speaking about the issue of the live broadcast in the annex to news broadcasting, Ilshat Aminov noted that there are alternative methods for on-the-spot coverage of events, however, there are not everywhere enough connection power to transmit TV signals online. The head of TNV expressed hope that as soon as they finish the transition to the standard for wireless communication LTE, the problem will be solved. But as for the broadcasts – then a new OB, it seems, is definitely 'must have'.

Besides, TV company has a huge work on digitizing and transfer to the new format of the archives. The company's website is also waiting to be updated. All these the viewers of TNV will see soon on their favorite channel.
