To the accompaniment of rain: Nizhnekamskneftekhim celebrates its 52nd anniversary

The event dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of the city-forming enterprise — Nizhnekamskneftekhim — took place on 31 July in Nizhnekamsk. The tradition of celebration was laid back in 1967. Then the holiday was marked by a meeting near the now-defunct cinema Voskhod. Now it is in modern tradition to hold a concert, games, competitions instead of the meeting. Bicycle show, parade of balloons and laser tag
Nizhnekamsk met the day of celebration in clouds. The forecast promised rain in the morning, but it started right before the holiday — at 2 p.m. Despite this, the group Artist invited from Kazan started working from 4 p.m. Little by little, the Park of Petrochemists gathered spectators and direct participants of the holiday. They became more and more thanks to an interesting animated children's programme with elements of the parade of ballons, about which one of the organizers of the event — Dmitry Kolesnik, the representative of the Kazan company Start for the organization of events, told in detail:
“Starting from 4 p.m., the interesting programme was organised for the residents of Nizhnekamsk: an interactive dance show, bubble show, flash mobs. We handed out balloons to all guests, made shapes from balloons and a makeshift alley of them.”
Also, in parallel, the popular youth game laser tag, an analogue of paintball, was organised, up to 30 people could participate in it at a time. At 5 p.m., at the main entrance to the park, an orchestra of wind instruments began to play, its main task was to attract viewers, which was performed with success. Also, from 5 p.m., there worked a food court area, which was organized by various catering enterprises from different cities of Tatarstan. Several food trucks from Naberezhnye Chelny and Kazan arrived specially for the birthday of the petrochemical enterprise. They all enjoyed success with the townspeople. By the way, the sale of alcohol was banned at the nearest location, so that the event was non-alcoholic.
The guests of the festival gradually arrived. At 6 p.m., the main site began to work. It featured the performances of Nizhnekamskneftekkhim ensemles, creative young people — winners and prize-winners of the republican youth contest Beznen Zaman, the city's teams. Bright and unforgettable was the bicycle show from a champion of Russia in the bike trial, many will remember the performance of Level Up dance group and the vocal trio of Russians Black. Unforgettable final touch for the residents was the performance of a star of national scale Elvin Grey, beloved by the residents and visitors of Nizhnekamsk alike.

“The holiday turned out to be very cool, large-scale. A lot of people came. We could not miss this event with our youth activists — 52 years since the production of the first products, this is an important date for us. A lot of guests, artists, a lot of people. Many thanks to all the organizers! We, the youth activists, like everything very much!”

“Every year we are happy to attend this event, especially since it is held near our school. It's great that such great concerts with modern popular artists are held for young people!”
Natalia Isaeva, a resident of the city, teacher at the kindergarten No. 45, said that her house is located near the Park of Petrochemists. “The concert can be heard from the window, but we never miss the opportunity to go out to see everything live. We really like this tradition, because this way we can feel the unity of all the inhabitants of the city, regardless of their place of work.”

The results of the event were summed up by Rodion Bulashov, the deputy director general for personnel and social affairs at Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC:
“Today the whole team is celebrating the birthday of our company — 52 years since the manufacture of the first products. Together with us — the residents of Nizhnekamsk, other cities also have come to congratulate: Zainsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Almetyevsk, Kazan. Despite the rain, we are celebrating our birthday with the team, residents, colleagues and friends. It is particularly gratifying that this year is jubilee, 90 years since the birth of Nikolay Lemaev, which we celebrate in November. We are proud to say that Nizhnekamskneftekhim is the largest enterprise for the production of petrochemical products in Europe, for some products — the largest in the world, I'm talking about synthetic isoprene rubber. On behalf of the management of the enterprise, we want to wish the whole team to move forward, never stop, to continue to work for the benefit of inhabitants of the city, the republic, the country and to achieve the new purposes. We congratulate the townspeople on the holiday! Those who works — they rest well, and it is possible today to see on the example of our employees.”
From the chemical plant on Kama River to the flagship of the petrochemical industry of Tatarstan
The history of Nizhnekamsk is directly connected with the appearance of the chemical plant, so the birthday of the company is a holiday for the whole city. The complex of chemical plants in the lower reaches of the Kama River began to be built in 1961: first they created the infrastructure and built a worker’s settlement, which in 1966 was given the status of the city of Nizhnekamsk. A year later, the chemical plant received the first batch of commercial products — on 31 July 1967 the gas fractionation plant produced the first tonnes of commercial propane, butane, isobutane, isopentane, pentane and hexane. This date is considered to be the Birthday of Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
Now the company is the flagship of the petrochemical industry of Tatarstan. In 2018, the revenue from the sale of commercial products amounted to 189 billion rubles and each year the figures increase. The main project of the company is the construction of the new ethylene complex with a capacity of 600,000 tonnes a year, which is implemented jointly with German Linde. NKNK constantly invests in new projects. For example, in April, the plant for the production of benzene with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes was launched. It will increase the volume of benzene production to 265,000 tonnes a year, so the company will be able to fully provide itself with raw materials, refusing the purchases on the market.
Funds for landscape improvement, cultural and health facilities
The company is a city-forming, so it actively invests in social projects. From 2015 to 2019, more than 1,7 billion rubles have been invested in the Republican Fund for the Revival of Monuments of History and Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan. For the social infrastructure of the city, the company directed more than 440 million roubles, the funds were spent on the repair and rehabilitation of municipal roads leading to the industrial area in the district of BSI, the reconstruction of the embankment and adjoining roads. The Nikolay Lemaev Square and the pedestrian area near Neftekhim Arena were landscaped. In addition, the company invested in the repair of the House of Folk Art, which then donated to the city.
In the field of healthcare, Nizhnekamskneftekhim allocated funds for major repairs in the polyclinic No. 1 and the creation of the burn unit in Nizhnekamsk Central District Multi-profile Hospital. The grand opening of the facilities is scheduled for August. In addition, the plans include the construction of a multidisciplinary medical centre in Nizhnekamsk, which should appear within the framework of public-private partnership.
