‘The citizens of Germany are irritated with the fact that we should conform to the migrants’

The flow of refugees to Europe in a view of a German born in the USRR.

Fights, pogroms, conflicts – a sequence of scandals accompanies the European integration of the migrants in Germany. Irina Tsvetkova, a columnist of Realnoe Vremya, is a citizen of Germany who lives in the suburbs of Hanover (Lower Saxony). At the beginning of the 1990s, she moved to Europe from Middle Asia. She told specially to our readers how the Germans go through the flow of refugees escaping war conflicts that rock the Near East and South Africa.

Was it a boy?

In recent decades, Germany opened the floodgates to everybody offering refuge to almost everyone. In brief, nothing special has happened in the country up until thousands and thousands of refugees began to arrive from Syria and Africa. Thefts, housebreakings, harassment and rapes became more frequent. It is possible that in Russia it was said about assaults on women in Cologne and other cities on New Year's Eve.

Local newspapers wrote about a rape of a 16-year-old boy by a migrant inside the bathroom of the City Hall about two weeks ago. This man was found according to the descriptions. It turned out that it happened by common consent. But it seems that the boy was mentally retarded. No one will say what actually happened. This occurrence made a negative impact on the citizens. Now we are trying not to go outside and to the centre when it is not necessary. We warn our children saying not to use their gadgets in the street and public places and avoid any contact with refugees.

'We don't behave correctly'

We, the citizens of Germany – Germans and Russians, are irritated with the fact that we should confirm to them. We are told that, 'Problems arise because you don't behave correctly'.

Why don't they want to accept our rules? When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

We are recommended that girls should wear other clothes and avoid eye contact with them. Girl, who looks at the eyes and whose skirt is above her knees, is supposed to be come-at-able. They say not to be offended if someone gets fresh with you afterwards.

Where is working force?

I'm indignant that refugees don't burn with the desire of integration. We were told that as though they were educated. They bought sheepskins in underground pedestrian crossings on their way here. When their education was examined, many 'specialists' could not write in their mother tongue.

They were settled compactly; they don't have a great desire to live close to the Germans. A certain ghetto appeared that dustcarts and police are afraid to visit. Mainly refugees live there.

The Turkish, Russians and others

Citizens of Turkey came to West Germany after the war who restored the country. They needed 50 years to integrate. They came to work. Now Turkish people own cafes and run businesses. In general, they are normal though they are different in clothes they put on and their behaviour.

I should say that we have a good attitude to Muslims and Islam. As for the attitude to us – 'Russians' – we proved ourselves to be laborious and decent citizens. We are educated, neat, we was not afraid of any work, so, we blended into the local life. We don't differ from the Germans in the way we behave and clothes we wear. Consequently, for western Germans we became Germans. In general, people who came from Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union successfully integrated. They are calm, well-tempered, get on with the local Germans, work and serve themselves and the society.
