Maksim Shevchenko: ‘Gülen is a multi-billionaire, he is a part of the world Masonic and American elites’

The experts of Realnoe Vremya express their opinion on the military coup attempt in Turkey and its reasons

The night unsuccessful military coup in Turkey was real food for the expert community of Russia. What was it? Staging? A try to take revenge of the military and the movement of a cleric Fethullah Gülen? The interviewed by the correspondent of Realnoe Vremya experts gave their versions and the answers to these questions.

'Gülen's society — it's a kind of huge empire'

Nadezhda Kevorkova, a journalist, a specialist in international affairs:

This coup has an external source and many said about that. But these arguments, that the coup was organized by the USA, have a big part of deceit by the Kremlin political scientists. Because the American mission was to draw Turkey into the war in Syria. The object of hatred in the Middle East conflict is, of course, Turkey and the Erdogan's government. Everything is directed against them. They failed to do so that Russia fulfilled this mission, they failed to involve Turkey in this Syrian campaign, as it was needed, they failed to encourage the Kurds to a full-fledged terrorist war inside Syria. After all, we know how the Turks caught the American Embassy red-handed when they adjusted various actions of the Kurdish combat units. We know that Erdogan failed to be defeated through elections when he formed a new, fresh, under the leadership of a young man Pro-Kurdish liberal party — it made an incredible leap, it gained 12%. But then the Russians did a favour in their own style: they started to invite these people, to praise them. The Turks simply turned over all that was said about these individuals, so the beginning politicians were forced to apologize: 'No, we didn't want, we are not against Turkey, we are not against Erdogan, we are not conspirators'.

'Of course, Gülen has management capabilities. Gülen has been living in the United States for 17 years. It is the only country where it is allowed to have a network of Turkish schools at a number of about five hundred. It's a fantastic thing. There is no other network Muslim or pseudo-Muslim project.' We all want to say: 'It is this subject that is the source of anti-Turkish rebellion'. We can't say this, it is a very wide range. Erdogan named Gülen: it is very clear for the Turks, so he did. When he says that Gülen is guilty, it means in the translated into plain American language the following: 'I know that you have leverage. I know that you are driving the processes in the country. I know that you are powerful, you have many possibilities, considering the work your intelligence services'. And then people demonstrate how they support him during a whole night.

There is an opinion that Putin — it is Erdogan, Erdogan — it is Putin. It's a lie. Because the Turks are absolutely not happy with Erdogan, there are no 84%, there is no 146%, there is a healthy critical attitude to Erdogan. But the Turks have the understanding of the importance of this figure, why he is important not only for them, not only for the country but for all Muslims in the world. Why is he such a beacon of hope for Muslims, including from Russia? Because they have nowhere else to run. When I say people, I mean peaceful people fleeing from repressions in their countries but not about the thousands who are fighting in ISIS (the organization banned in Russia — editor's note). The tremendous support of Erdogan — from 2.5 million Syrian refugees to our Muhajiruns, Caucasian Muhajiruns, Tatar Muhajiruns and Bashkir Muhajiruns, which are the cream of the intellectual emigration of Turkey.

Gülen is the man who speaks in a quiet voice, who rarely speaks about politics. And it would be better for him not to speak, because, for example, when the Turks sent their Mavi Marmara to break the Gaza blockade, Gülen said there was no need to do that, it was wrong, so there was no need to actively intervene in this old conflict. How is the Gülen community arranged? It is arranged as the brotherhood of colossal scale that includes lower and mid-level businessmen in very large numbers, there are officials of lower and middle rank, gendarmes, police, prosecutors. It's a kind of huge empire. When this support group was found out that they are plotting a coup, many turned away from them. But the backbone has remained. Of course, Gülen has management capabilities. Gülen has been living in the United States for 17 years. It is the only country where it is allowed to have a network of Turkish schools at a number of about five hundred. It's a fantastic thing. There is no other network Muslim or pseudo-Muslim project. Therefore, sooner or later, Gülen has to pay the debts for the services that were provided to him by the intelligence agencies, even if he does not really want to do that. He has to hold some mobilization from time to time. Now he says that he is not to blame. Erdogan accused him but this accusation is thrown more to the United States than to Gülen.

'It is clear that at least without the US neutrality Gülen would not be able to do such things. Now in such a situation, Erdogan will demand the extradition of Gülen. The Americans, most likely, will not do that, that way they will strengthen the suspicions of Erdogan that the Americans are behind this insurgency.' Photo: time.kz

'Erdogan's fault'

Gevorg Mirzayan, a researcher in the Institute of the USA and Canada Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a political scientist, a journalist (a correspondent of the Expert journal):

Of course, it is Erdogan's fault. He has brought the situation to a military uprising by his domestic policy. We have recently written that he may have this kind of problems. So they have arisen. Fortunately for him, for unknown reasons — whether they had acted too early or they failed to hide them in time — the rebellion failed. But in general, Erdogan should make some conclusions.

As for Russia. Regardless of the revolt, Erdogan has greatly soured relations with the USA. Because he announced that the rebellion was organized by Fethullah Gülen living in the United States. It is clear that at least without the US neutrality Gülen would not be able to do such things. Now in such situation, Erdogan will demand the extradition of Gülen. The Americans, most likely, will not do that, that way they will strengthen the suspicions of Erdogan that the Americans are behind this insurgency. But if he thinks that the Americans want a regime change in Turkey, then he will approach closer to us (Russia — editor's note) in order to balance Americans by means of us. That is, we have become even more desired for him in this situation. Of course, there are some disadvantages. I don't know how Erdogan will react. Maybe he'll throw the army into a meat grinder, for example, in Syria. But if we properly play the situation, then we will benefit.

Gülen will always be trying to refuse to have anything to do with the failed coup. He has very close ties in Turkey, he has a sharply negative attitude to Erdogan. He was behind a series of scandalous actions when the members of the Cabinet were arrested. Was Gülen able or not – it is another issue. The main thing — who is to blame. Erdogan blamed Gülen. It will also be wrong for Erdogan to retreat from this position.

'Amazing courage of the man, astonishing will to win!'

Maksim Shevchenko, a journalist, a human rights activist, a member of the Council under RF President on the development of civil society and human rights:

The main version of the incident was expressed by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, duly elected President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He twice named the United States as a country that is the source of the military-fascist coup. He named Gülen but Gülen in this case is the operator. Erdogan said twice that the roots of the conspiracy — in the United States. And at night, when his life was in danger, he went on the air via Skype. The amazing courage of the man, astonishing will to win! Second, when he already won, the next morning he named the USA not mentioning Gülen.

I think that the Supreme Comannder-in-Chief of such strong country as Turkey, who is reported by the intelligence services, can declare with all responsibility who is behind the attempt of the military-fascist coup. He named the USA twice.

'Gülen is a multi-billionaire, he is a part of the Masonic world elite, of the world American elite. He is on first-name terms with them. I think that it is not Gülen personally but a whole set of American, especially Republican groups, not with Donald Trump, are involved in this.' Photo: kchrline.ru

In Turkey the coup could be supported by the military caste, which was raised in the USA, grew up in the USA, many of them studied in West Point. NATO and the Americans were preparing the Turks as the gendarmes of the Middle East. The army in Turkey has never been a synonym of freedom and democracy. It was during the domination of the military, so-called late Kemalism, which had nothing to do with Kemal but phraseology, as late communism had nothing to do with Lenin, the rights of all minorities were infringed — of the Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, and there was the position of such rabid Turkish nationalism. I will remind you that Erdogan is not an ethnic Turk, he is a Georgian patrilineally and an Adzharian matrilineally.

With his victory of the AK party (the Justice and Development Party – editor's note) in Turkey there came the real democracy and the possibility to negotiate with different peoples, living in Turkey. Erdogan adhered to the course on the so-called enlightened Islamic democracy, trying to find a balance between a secular state and the cultural, civilizational norms (i.e. Islam), traditional for the vast majority living in Turkey ethnic groups comprising the Turkish nation. From that moment, Turkey began a dialogue: there are Kurdish newspapers, the Kurdish music began to be heard. In Antakya, the Arab enclave inhabited by Arabs, the Arabic newspapers and Arabic radio appeared, which did not exist under the military, whom, for some unknown reason, some experts call the supporters of democracy and defenders of human rights. So, it was the real military-fascist coup.

For me, one thing is obvious: the terrorist attack in Istanbul was just the first warning. I am sure that one and the same forces are responsible for the attack and the coup. Moreover, there are three moments in this chain. The first is a vile destruction of the Russian plane. Even then it was reported that this was done with the support of American intelligence and the American AEW&C directed this F-16. And when Erdogan said he was not aware and did not give the order, it is obvious today that it was true. This was the first attempt to break off relations with Russia, to influence the situation through such provocation. The attack, which allegedly involved Russian citizens, maybe some fanatics and psychopaths are involved in it. And the military-fascist coup as the third step. When failed, he understood and returned to normal relations with Putin, and here was this hysterical military-fascist reaction.

You should understand that they were about to do it. If they really had killed him, and they wanted to kill him, they stormed the hotel where he was resting, then they would have won, no doubt. But the security worked out well. They took him, took a few seconds before the arrival of the killers. That is why he went on Skype in a car or something, in a vehicle or anywhere else. But Turkey is a high-tech country, and I think they have the possibilities, including the security services to protect his President.

As for Gülen, let's listen to Erdogan and the participants of the conspiracy. Gülen is a multi-billionaire, he is a part of the Masonic world elite, of the world American elite. He is on first-name terms with them. I think that it is not Gülen personally but a whole set of American, especially Republican groups, not with Donald Trump, are involved in this. I don't rule out that Hillary was also involved because she is aligned with this hawkish Republican camp. First, Erdogan named Gülen and then said 'the forces in the USA', so the force is a relative term.

Now Russia and Putin have the unique opportunity. If now Putin goes further, then there will be the possibility not only to turn Erdogan tightly to the East in alliance with China, Russia and Iran, to end the Syrian war but also the break relations of Turkey with NATO. Now we need not listen to the Armenian lobby, which in Russia still affects greatly the Turkish policy. With all respect to the Armenian people, the prominent Armenian journalists, experts, but the Armenians hate the Turks. Taking into account the presence of huge traditional Turkic population only the words of the RISS, for example, can be considered to be the expert ones. I heard the speech of Glazova, Deputy Director of the RISS, it was just the support of the coup, in my opinion. You can listen to the 'Echo of Moscow'. They just praised the Turkish army, when it was still unclear, they said that Erdogan, Islamization – it is bad, and the Turkish army is wonderful secular people. But they are fascists! I know these Turkish Grey Wolves — they are fascists. This is the same jerk who shot our pilot. These people are with the same Nazi ideology. Unfortunately, they have support. I think the expert community in Russia should give way to more sane professionals in Russia, at least to Zhirinovsky. Vladimir Zhirinovsky knows Turkey. I criticize him for other things but I can not criticize him for this. He understands the situation inside of Turkey. We need to build public Turkish examination, which were not built by conflicts and phobias of brotherly but still other peoples.
