The Sprint Triathlon European Championships kicked off in Kazan on 27 July. Professional athletes and amateurs from over 30 countries are participating in the competition. 200 strongest athletes competed at the main stage of the championships. They had to swim 750 metres in the open water, ride 20 km by bicycle and run 5 km. Amateurs were going to do it on 28 July. Over 1,000 people from 20 countries, including 300 Russian triathlon fans, were expected to participate in it.
