Wooden architecture of Sviyazhsk. Museum of archaeological wood opens in the island-town

Russia's first Museum of archaeological wood 'Tatar Slobodka' opened on 5 September in Sviyazhsk. The museum consists of two parts: The Exposition and The Archaeological Excavation. The excavation on the area of 900 square metres recreates the actual location the wooden urban development of the middle of the 16th-18th centuries. An exposition of three sections is located along the perimeter in the windows: medieval wooden architecture; restoration and conservation of archaeological artefacts; activities and way of life of the population of the posada of Sviyazhsk of the 16-18th centuries.
