The Regional Quran Recitation Contest opened in Kazan on 22 November. Winners of preliminary stages in districts of Tatarstan participate in the tournament - a total of 17 people (15 men and 2 girls). The contest between men takes places in the building of the Russian Islamic University, among women - at Mothers mosque. They all fight for the major prize of the contest - a ticket to the Hajj. The competitors will be assessed by three criteria - their memory, voice and correct reading - tajweed.
