The main Tatar national holiday Sabantuy took place on 15 July in Tatarstan. The diversity of rural households, organized bythe 11 municipal districts, were assessed by RT President Rustam Minnikhanov, chief of the presidential office of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. The celebration were also attended by Deputy Director General of UNESCO Nada Al-Nashif and other honoured guests.
Rustam Minnikhanov visited almost every yard at the festival, where he participated in various competitions — throwing a hoop and wooden spoons, as well as he bought a bag of flour, minted coins, hung a towel, handed the prizes to batyrs and armwrestlers, tasted the soup and meat.
The Maidan hosted a massive theatrical performance, then the festive programme continued with a concert with participation of Tatar pop stars and competitions of national fighting
koresh.
