On April 12, Russia celebrates Cosmonautics Day in commemoration of the first space flight, accomplished by Yuri Gagarin. In the state archives of the Republic of Tatarstan there are document indicating how 55 years ago Kazan welcomed the message about the world's first manned flight into outer space, as well as evidence of the visit of Valentina Tereshkova, Pyotr Klimuk, Pavel Popovich, Alexei Leonov and other cosmonauts to Tatarstan.

The exposition features documents from the collections of the National archives of the Republic of Tatarstan (NA RT), the Central state archive of historical-political documentation of the Republic of Tatarstan (TSGA IPD RT), Central state archive of audiovisual documents of the Republic of Tatarstan (TSGA AD RT) and the State archive of printing of the Republic of Tatarstan (GAP RT).
