Eternal peace: the remains of Kazan khans will be returned to the Kremlin

The decision to bury the remains of two Kazan khans was made after publication of the Realnoe Vremya article

40 years after the discovery, the remains of two Kazan khans Mahmud and Muhammad-Amin, the son of khan Ibrahim, will be buried. As one of the participants of the meeting in the Kazan Kremlin, Airat hazrat Ayupov, told Realnoe Vremya, a green light to the procedure was given by the President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov and the state adviser of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev. As the correspondent of our newspaper found out, the ceremony of the burial is scheduled until October of this year.

The remains of the Kazan khans will find peace

The remains of two Kazan khans, finally, will be interred in the prepared places for them in the Kremlin mausoleum. On 16 June, on instagram account of the mufti of Tatarstan Kamil hazrat Samigullin it was published the post about the previous discussion on the burial of the remains of Kazan khans, with the fate of which the public is so concerned.

'In the Kul Sharif Mosque we exchanged views with the director of the museum-reserve Kazan Kremlin Zilya Valeyeva and the chairman of the Board of Aqsaqals of the Muslim Spiritual Board of Tatarstan Airat hazrat Ayupov on the burial of the remains of Kazan khans,' signed the photograph the Tatar and Russian mufti of the Republic.

In 1977, the group of archaeologists opened two tombs in the Kremlin at the foot of the Syuyumbike tower. In the opened tombs the archaeologists discovered wooden coffins with a rich decoration of leather, draped in silver lining. According to the studies, one of the burials belongs to the deceased in 1467 son of the ruler of the Golden Horde, the Kazan khan Mahmud, and the other – to the son of Ibrahim-Khan khan Muhammad-Amin, who died in 1518. As Realnoe Vremya already reported, the remains have been fully studied, and now the question on the burial is open. There have already been prepared the places in the mausoleum in the Kazan Kremlin. The main problem, according to the director of the Institute of History of the Tatarstan Academy of Sciences named after Mardzhani Rafael Khakimov, is the burial procedure.

We definitely will bury this year

The correspondent of Realnoe Vremya got in touch with Airat hazrat Ayupov, who shared with the details for the agreed burial.

Ayrat hazrat, tell us about the details of the decision. When are they to be buried, what will be the burial ceremony like?

It has not been decided yet. Most importantly, the decision on the burial has been made. This is the most important issue. But when… Definitely this year. I think that this issue will be resolved until October. The ceremony issue is also needed to be solved. We live in a multicultural, multireligious world, so everything must be taken into account.

You have not discussed the burial ceremony yet?

The burial ceremony will be held according to the Islamic Sharia.

Airat hazrat Ayupov: 'Over the years, when the remains were being examined, it has been prepared a very nice mausoleum.'

The burial will be made on the territory of the Kremlin?

Yes, inside the Kremlin. Over the years, when the remains were being examined, it has been prepared a very nice mausoleum. From this place they were dug, studied by our Tatarstan scientists, scientists from Samara, Moscow and St. Petersburg. They have proved that these are actually the remains of the khans. During this time, a magnificent mausoleum was built, — I have seen such mausoleums only in Medina in the mosque of our prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), where his tomb is preserved.

Will they have to disassemble the mausoleum to bury khans?

Everything is ready there, we need only to put them in compliance with all Shariah laws. Everything has been done there. I am very glad that in Tatarstan there are such lovely people — everyone understands. And our head also understands that: this side and the other side. That is why we have Christianity and Islam going hand in hand — no abuse or humiliation there, everything is all right.

How did the leadership of the Republic react?

I wrote a letter on behalf of the aqsaqals of the Republic of Tatarstan. They responded affirmatively, because, first of all, they're people, and People with a capital letter. They understand that a human body should be interred. This decision is of very great people, no politics and something else. First of all, they are people, and then goes the rest.
